Elbows up!

December 12, 2009

So, I’m delaying heading out Christmas shopping by watching Youtube videos, that and I’m waiting for my friend to arrive who is also going to brave the malls with me with 13? shopping days left! I have to pass along this Youtube gem, by Jeff Buckley!

Love that song! You should also check out the Leonard Cohen version of course.

Still waiting for some snow, but I think I am more into the fact that winter solstice is only 9 days away! Anyone who knows me, knows I LIVE FOR SUN! I practically wear shorts year round here, but come on I love wearing them and not having people stare at me from underneath their parkas!

Not too much else, I mentioned it last blog, but there is going to be some really cool news to be released this coming week. I am always a procrastinator and one to talk about things and not actually follow through – - – until now that is! Stay tuned, its going to be exciting!

Shopping time, elbows up. Here’s to hoping for short lines, good deals, no tantrum throwing children, as one of my stops is Toys R Us.

Who on earth do you think you are, a super star

Blog number 2, and no three week hiatus!

December 8th, both the 29th anniversary of John Lennons death, and the official two week countdown to winter solstice! Anyone who knows me, these are two very important things to me! The first CD I ever bought was a John Lennon CD, and well its clear by my permanently tanned skin that this girl lives for summer!

On the John Lennon aspect, I tuned into Rock 101′s John Lennon tribute all day long  - phenomenal!  I can’t not throw a Lennon video in here! This was filmed in Central Park, which by the way is top of places I want to go! New York really, but you can bet I would be visiting Strawberry Fields in Central Park. Watch the video!

Everything about John Lennon was amazing!!

Winter solstice just two weeks away has me very happy, I can’t explain how much I dislike waking up in the dark, getting off work in the dark…come on summer!

Running lots again, those of you I haven’t talked to recently – - – I ran a marathon in October and had to have minor foot surgery after, thanks to my lack of taking care of myself! A month later, and I am totally back to normal, getting back at the running finally!

Last thing, I’m finally fighting off my constant procrastinating nature and setting an idea into action! Not saying much, other than it has to do with two of my loves, broadcasting and tour guiding! Stay tuned, I’ll roll out more details soon!

Oh! Hope you checked out the Battery’s Down video blog, as I said before, I am totally obsessed with it! Check out this music video of one of their songs in a video blog.

We all shine on…go listen to some John Lennon.

Here we go!

I did it! Finally broke down and opened up a blog account. I read tons of peoples blogs, and always plan to start one, but never do it, until now!

Everyday I mentally compose blogs, with the things I witness on a day-to-day basis. I am actually convinced strangeness is drawn to me, or maybe I am just very observant.  From an education in Broadcasting, to a career in a building of wall-to-wall cubicles, I am fairly certain the things I observe on a daily basis are worthy of a blog! I hope you keep checking back, and tell your friends to do the same! Also, tell the cashier in the grocery store you visit, tell your bank teller and your butcher, lets get people reading this!

I don’t know about you, but I spend hours on Youtube! I am obsessed with watching peoples videos. About two years ago I stumbled across one from this guy living in New York, Andrew Keenan-Bolger. Check out his Youtube page,

It is so interesting to watch what he puts together. Now, to make a short story long, one day I was watching an Andrew Keenan-Bolger video and he was plugging this upcoming video blog series, called, The Battery’s Down. So, I clicked the link, watched the first episode, and was instantly hooked! Turns out the creator of this, Jake Wilson is a musical genious!! Him and his friends, including Andrew Keenan-Bolger put together an ongoing musical every month. If there is one piece of advise to take from me, its watch these video blogs from The Battery’s Down! They are PHENOMENAL!! Watch ‘em in order, you’ll be blown away! Here you are, here is the first episode, watch it, and keep watching them in order!

Keeping this short, you have lots of videos to watch!

2 weeks tomorrow, and the days start getting longer! Alana fact # 218: I thrive in the sun shine! This business of it being dark before I am off work at 4:30 doesn’t make me smile!
